This is the opinion of the majority of Russians in the poll conducted by the Levada Center. In the next 10-15 years, 53% of citizens would not like to see a woman as the president of their country. Among those who are "against", more than seventy percent of men of all ages. The bulk of women "agree" or "do not mind."

The participation of women in politics as such is approved by 60% of the respondents, but 34% of the respondents are against a woman becoming president.
When asked to name women politicians who could run for the presidency, 32% said that there are no such women in the country. 39% of Russians could not name a woman politician who could become the president of the Russian Federation. Another 16% opposed the participation of women in the presidential elections. The rest of the respondents mentioned the speaker of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko (6.1%), the politician Irina Khakamada (1.4%) and the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova (1%). The surname of TV presenter and journalist Ksenia Sobchak was named by 0.4% of the respondents.

On the whole, every second of the Russians surveyed believes that now men have more chances of getting a promotion than women. Only 3% of respondents are sure of the opposite. The fact that the chances are approximately equal, said 42% of respondents
The survey was conducted on September 15-19 among 1,600 people aged 18 and over in 137 settlements in 48 regions of the Russian Federation.
