Perhaps Russian scientists have managed to make a breakthrough in the treatment of Covid-19: yesterday, Minister of Health Mikhail Murashko said that Russia would soon begin testing a new drug for coronavirus.
The coronavirus epidemic continues to rage in the world, claiming several thousand lives every day, so scientists in different countries are working to create a vaccine against this disease and a medicine that will help the infected to cope with the disease faster. Health Minister Mikhail Murashko said yesterday that Russian specialists have already created a drug that could become a cure for Covid-19.
According to Mikhail Albertovich, scientists took as a basis a remedy that has shown itself well in the treatment of coronavirus in other countries, and on its basis they have developed a new unique drug. Drug trials should begin in the next 10-12 days, after which, if the test results are successful, the drug will go into mass production and sale. Doctors believe that mefloquine, an antimalarial drug that is now used in the Covid-19 treatment protocol, could serve as the basis for the drug.
In addition, the minister said that Russian laboratories have prepared three versions of the coronavirus vaccine. So far, they are being tested in medical laboratories, but in the summer the vaccine can be administered to the first sixty volunteers for testing.
