On the eve of the New Year, according to opinion polls, the main gift that Russians asked for Santa Claus was a wish for health to themselves and their relatives, in second place - material well-being and money, in third - happiness. The first five wishes were for world peace and a new apartment.
Other desires include higher wages and pensions, paying off debts and loans, a new car, career advancement, travel, and general well-being.
According to VTsIOM, our citizens' preferences for the New Year's menu have practically not changed over the past 10 years. The most popular dish, which will be on the table among 73% of Russians, is Olivier salad, in second place are tangerines, in third - herring under a fur coat. In addition to them, in most houses they plan to cook jellied meat, caviar, olives, Caesar salad and jellied fish on New Year's Eve.
At the same time, the overwhelming majority of our citizens will celebrate the New Year at home and do not plan to leave their city for the New Year holidays, preferring to look for entertainment on the spot: visiting, walking in nature, skating. More than half of Russians see off the outgoing year in a good mood, feel joy and expectation of changes for the better.
