The widespread belief in the need to consume two liters of clean water per day has always been considered highly controversial by nutritionists. A few hours ago, a specialist told why this practice can be not only not useful, but also dangerous for some people.

Several years ago, the opinion about the need to drink from two liters of water or more every day gained immense popularity. Proponents of such observance of the water balance are sure: tea, coffee, other drinks and soups are not considered liquid for the body, therefore, regardless of their consumption, you need to drink several liters of ordinary or mineral water.
But nutritionists completely disagree with this position. In an interview with Channel Five, Yulia Chekhonina challenged the benefits of consuming such an amount of water. The doctor recalled that liquid is contained not only in drinks, but also in any foods that are eaten during the day. A person receives about 800 ml of liquid from them.

In addition, the calculation of fluid intake should not be based on total body weight. Do not take into account "extra pounds", but multiply the normal, ideal weight for a person by 35-40 ml of liquid. From the resulting number, those same 800 ml are subtracted, as well as all drinks. The remaining number is the rate of water that will benefit your health.
Experts recalled that excess water can damage the kidneys, blood and cause "water intoxication", which leads to migraines and edema. One way or another, even in this it is necessary to find a middle ground.
