The notorious football players Alexander Kokorin and Pavel Mamaev, who were sentenced to serve a sentence in a correctional colony in May this year, will be released in the coming days as having served half of the appointed term.

In October 2018, former Russian national team players Pavel Mamaev and Alexander Kokorin were at the epicenter of the scandal. After a night of entertainment in the clubs and establishments of the capital, the athletes became the instigators of two fights at once, in one of which the official Denis Pak was injured, who was hit on the head with a chair.
Since October, Pavel, Alexander and his younger brother Kirill have been in jail awaiting a court decision. In conclusion, they also spent the New Year holidays. More than six months later, in May, the players were sentenced: from a year to one and a half years in prison. Pavel and Alexander ended up in the same colony, where they demonstrated exemplary behavior, participated in sports matches for the team of the correctional institution "Golden Lion".

The diplomas received for sports activities and work in the sewing workshop, and the fact that every day spent in the pre-trial detention center is counted for two days in the colony, allowed the lawyers of Pavel and Alexander to ask for early release on the basis of serving half of the appointed time.
At a closed court session on September 6, a decision was made to release the athletes from custody as soon as the decision comes into force. Tentatively, Alexander and Pavel will receive the long-awaited freedom on September 17th. True, Pavel Mamaev is expecting another hearing, this time a football one. The sports club "Krasnodar" intends to terminate the contract with the footballer. The final decision will be made at a meeting between Pavel, coaches and club owners.
