The international festival Rock over the Volga, which was held in Samara annually from 2009 to 2013 and became the largest in Europe, was supposed to take place in June 2020 at the Samara Arena stadium. The lineup of the sixth festival featured domestic stars Zemfira, Bi-2, Mumiy Troll, Spleen, as well as the American rock band Papa Roach. In May, the organizers - NCA - announced the cancellation of the festival. However, the other day it was decided that for rock fans on June 28, NCA will prepare a real surprise - an online show with the participation of their favorite bands "Spleen" and "Bi-2".

The site for an unusual rock marathon will not be a field or a stadium, but the great Russian Volga river. The host is Oleg Garkusha, a participant of AuktsYon.
“It is symbolic that it was the letter D that covered the mask of the present time, and in the format of 2020 we will call our event“Rock on the Volga”,” the organizers clarify. The three-hour online concert will be held with the support of the government of the Samara region, Gazprombank will act as the main partner, and MTS Group will be the broadcast partner.
“Today's world and the uncertainty in which we all now live give us the opportunity to learn to overcome difficulties and look for new forms in order to be with those we love,” says Eva Samsonova, project director. - Preparation of "Rock over the Volga-2020" has been going on for several years, our team has invested in the project a tremendous amount of mental strength and physical energy. But we knew that thousands of people were waiting for the return of their favorite festival, and we cannot let them down, just postponing it to the next year."

The performances of the stars of the rock scene will be held free of charge. The broadcast will begin on June 28 at 19.00 Moscow time, in Samara at that moment it will be 20.00. The stage will be a barge on the Volga, on which a special stage will be mounted, designed taking into account the live broadcast. The broadcast will be in real presence format - 360⁰. Viewers from all over the world will see not only their favorite artists, but will also be able to ask them questions live.
One of the features of the online broadcast will be a large screen, which will be installed directly on the barge in front of the stage. During the concerts, a close-up video will be shown on the screen of the audience, who will receive free online tickets and connect to the broadcast via video link in the Zoom app. According to the results of the competition in the social networks of the festival, 1000 lucky people will get their place on the online platform "Rock on the Volga".

The online marathon and its participants this year will support the Konstantin Khabensky Charitable Foundation, which helps children and young adults with cancer and other serious brain diseases. In 2010, the founder of the Foundation, People's Artist of Russia, actor Konstantin Khabensky personally stood on the stage of "Rock on the Volga" as a host and is familiar with the unique atmosphere of this festival. Each viewer will be able to help the Foundation right during the live broadcast by sending a donation.
